abstract
normal 0 false false false en-us x-none ar-sa background: this study was designed to investigate the effect of vitiligo on the retinal nerve fiber layer (rnfl) thickness. materials and methods: this prospective study was conducted in the department of ophthalmology at kä±rä±kkale university during 2010 and 2011.sixty eight eyes of 34 vitiligo patients were included in the study. eighty four eyes were served as control. rnfl thickness was measured by scanning laser polarimetry (nerve fiber analyzer, gdx vcc: 5.3.3; laser diagnostic technologies, san diego, ca, usa). results: the mean duration of vitiligo was found to be 9.8 â } 2.3 years. the mean average rnfl thickness outside the disc margin was significantly lower in the right eyes of vitiligo group in comparison to the controls ( p = 0.02). the mean average thickness of rnfl beneath the measuring ellipse in the superior sector of both eyes were significantly lower than the controls ( p = 0.004, p = 0.008, respectively). the topographical distributions of rnfl thickness in superior, inferior, nasal and temporal quadrants were similar for two groups. conclusion: rnfl thickness seems to be unaffected in vitiligo patients.

Title Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness
The purpose of this study was to investigate the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in myopic, emmetropic, and hyperopic children using optical coherence tomography. Two-hundred one right eyes of subjects aged 4 to 18 years were divided into 3 groups based on their postcycloplegic spherical equivalent: myopes (< 1.0 D), emmetropes ( 1.0 to þ1.0 D), and hyperopes (>þ1.0 D)....

background: headache is one of the most disturbing symptoms with common neurological signs. variations in optic nerve perfusion quality or retinal microcirculation may end up in ganglion cell damage in patients with migraine. methods: sixty patients diagnosed with migraine and thirty normal individuals were evaluated in groups including migraine with aura, migraine without aura and controls. re...
full textThe Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness is Related to Severity of Parkinson’s Disease
Introduction: We investigated correlation between the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and the severity of Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods: In this study, the RNFL thickness of 23 patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) was compared to normal controls (NCs). PD severity was assessed by the MDS-UPDRS (movement disorder society Unified Parkinson Disea...

full textRetinal nerve fiber layer thickness in recovered and persistent amblyopia
PURPOSE To investigate, using optical coherence tomography (OCT), whether retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) is affected in amblyopic eyes. METHODS Using OCT (Stratus OCT™ [Carl Zeiss, Dublin, CA]), the RNFLT was measured in 26 patients with persistent unilateral amblyopia and in 25 patients with recovered unilateral amblyopia. The RNFLT was compared between the affected and fellow e...
